Here because you were so brilliant on Lotus Eaters. Can't wait to see what you do with this space.

Creating a sort of much needed cultural bohemian renaissance? I am so down. Cheers!

Sounds amazing, John! I have been a fan of yours since I first saw you on the Podcast of the Lotus Eaters. I am absolutely looking forward to reading (and hearing!) more of your work!

I happen to be an artist. I create both classical and contemporary art. My classical works are in oilpaint (on linen) and for my modern works I use acrylics, molding paste, metal and gold and silver. I would love to hear what kind of artworks you are looking for, because I would love to contribute!

Love, Merel

Not sure if I can contribute a lot but would like to talk about life here in Japan and contrast it with the way the west is going- nice to toss around ideas!

"Do you know the most reliable way to deal with those who stubbornly refuse to see reason? You conquer them - crush them under heel. Such was the trusted method of Allag, and one still favoured by Garlemald. But conquest is the easy part. The true challenge begins once the dust has settled - quenching the glowing embers of animosity and maintaining a semblance of peace. This requires the conqueror to treat the conquered with dignity, and the conquered to let bygones be bygones. A difficult feat to achieve." - Emet-Selch, from Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers.

Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this project, John! This is a great idea - the industrial flattening of contemporary art into medieval morality tales is simply demoralising. Luckily for us, unbridled expression exists for those who would care to look, but it's nonetheless so sad to see people raised on the artistic and dialogic equivalent of gruel.

Would be very happy to contribute music if it's ever of interest. It's semi-professional at best, but it's definitely organic, heartfelt and guaranteed to be 100% free of any irony or cynicism.

John, this seems like a worthy endeavor. I haven't started my Substack yet. But I suspect I might have something to contribute here. Check out my YouTube channel, The Anadromist. It speaks for itself. I have for many years specialized in cultural issues; music, art, history, horror, comedy, propaganda, even puppetry, and on and on. I also have an essay site called The Anadromous Life. I have debated about submitting ideas to Lotus Eaters, Timcast, and others. They were all seemed slightly too culture war focused for my work. Yet they were saying there was a need for cultural change. Work I've been seriously doing for quite a long time. Interested? Follow the breadcrumbs. From Tbilisi Georgia, Byrne.

An empire of hearts and minds? You set for yourself a mighty task, but then they said the pen was mightier. Let's hope then.

Mr Wheatley

I am thoroughly convinced that the "culture war" you are describing can be better both articulated and understood instead with "hybrid warfare" and "psychological operations". The blm riots were a perfect example of foreign supported socialist groups fomenting enough violence and damage to infrastructure as to cripple entire city sections.

Also do you take submissions? if yes, how?
